Ulysses #078 ‘Capel Street’

1,080

This bold, multi-colored abstract painting bursts with the life and spirit of one of Dublin’s most iconic streets—Capel Street. Known for its eclectic mix of old and new, tradition and rebellion, this lively stretch of the city is captured here in a joyful palette of pastels and brights: playful pinks, electric blues, citrus yellows, and splashes of mint green.

Inspired by page 78 of Ulysses, where Joyce describes a “splendid masterpiece in art colours,” this piece channels that phrase through pure expression—celebrating the energy, contradiction, and character of a street that has always made space for individuality.

Capel Street doesn’t follow rules—and neither does this painting. Its whimsical forms and spontaneous brushstrokes are a reminder that art can be fun, loud, soft, cheeky, and sincere all at once. Whether you see Dublin in the shapes or simply feel its pulse in the colors, this is a work that asks you to trust your instinct and embrace what moves you.

Perfect for anyone drawn to expressive color, urban spirit, and the joy of creative freedom. Hang it wherever you need a dose of Dublin energy—or simply a splash of something that makes your heart smile. 💫
